On the afternoon of June 24th, the school held the opening ceremony of the short-term training program "Solomon Islands Land Use Planning Seminar". Vice President Jing Tao attended and delivered a speech.
Jing Tao warmly welcomed the officials attending the seminar and confidently presented the school's proactive response to the strategic needs of the country since the inception of the "Belt and Road" Initiative. He emphasized the school's robust utilization of its professional advantages and characteristics while vigorously driving the internationalization strategy. To date, the school has successfully trained over 10,000 technical and management professionals for the joint construction of 133 "Belt and Road" and national "orders".
Jing Tao provided a detailed overview of the seminar's content. He emphasized that land use planning is fundamental to the long-term development of the country and the proper organization of urban areas. Through meticulous land use planning, land resources can be effectively utilized to promote sustainable economic growth and ensure the harmonious development of society and the environment. Projects such as the Solomon Islands National Stadium built by the Chinese government, the road and bridge restoration project in Honiara and its surrounding areas, and other endeavors undertaken by Chinese enterprises, including the upgrading of Honiara International Port, all exemplify successful cooperation in the field of land planning. There is hope for further deepening understanding and friendship between the two sides and elevating bilateral relations to a higher level.
At the opening ceremony, Mr.ROBERT MISIMAKA, Deputy Secretary-General of the Land Department of Solomon Islands, spoke as a representative of the students. He said the seminar provides a rare opportunity for the Solomon Islands government, especially serving officials, to gain a deep understanding of China's successful experience and innovative practices in land planning and green and harmonious urban construction. This is of great practical significance for guiding strategic urban planning in the Solomon Islands. We look forward to bringing Chinese ideas and practices back to the Solomon Islands through this workshop and contributing to the development of a modern city that is sustainable, inclusive, environmentally friendly, and climate-resilient.

The 39 officials attending the seminar were from the Solomon Islands Land Ministry, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Justice, the Legal Reform Commission, and other key national departments. During the 21-day workshop, they will deeply participate in the classroom learning and on-site visiting in Beijing, and go to Hangzhou and Shenzhen for field investigation. Officials will systematically study China's urban development strategy, China's modern garden, China's comprehensive transportation planning and construction, sustainable rural Renaissance, ecological toughness infrastructure theory in the field of advanced concept and management experience, and witness how these ideas into practical results, experience China in land planning and green development innovation practice.
