On the afternoon of October 10, 2024, our school held the opening ceremony of the short-term foreign aid training projects "Malaysia Urban Planning and Public Transport Training Class" and "Serbia-Hungary-Serbia Railway High-speed Railway Construction and Management Training Class". Yao Enjian, Dean of the Institute of International Education, delivered a speech, and Wei Wenchao, Assistant Dean of the Institute of International Education, presided over it.

      Yao Enjian welcomed the trainees who participated in the seminar. He introduced the basic situation of the school and the details of this seminar. He pointed out that Malaysia and Serbia are both important countries in the "the belt and road initiative" initiative. Malaysia's East Coast Railway, Sabah Natural Gas Transportation Pipeline, and Serbia's Hungary-Serbia Railway Project are successful examples of "the belt and road initiative" international cooperation and witnesses of "hardcore friendship". He stressed that Beijing Jiaotong University's cooperation with Malaysia and Serbia under the "the belt and road initiative" initiative has achieved remarkable results. The school has in-depth cooperation with Pahang University in Malaysia and Kragujevac University in Serbia to jointly promote joint talent training and railway transportation training projects under the framework of "the belt and road initiative". I hope all the students can become messengers to enhance friendship, build bridges together, and contribute to win-win cooperation.

      Zhang Yugang, a special official of the Ministry of Transport of Malaysia, said that Malaysia is facing many challenges in the fields of urban development and public transportation. He looks forward to learning from China's innovative development concepts and practical experience in urban renewal, balanced urban-rural development and public transportation planning through this seminar, helping Malaysia meet the challenges of urbanization under the background of globalization, and injecting new impetus and vitality into Malaysia's sustainable development.

      Marjanovic Giovana, technical director of Serbian Railway Infrastructure Company, thanked Beijing Jiaotong University for its thoughtful arrangement and meticulous organization. She said that she was very honored to come to China, which is far ahead in the field of high-speed railway transportation and transportation. We look forward to applying the advanced knowledge and successful experience learned in China to the construction and operation of the Hungary-Serbia Railway, and contributing to the continuous construction and vigorous development of the Hungary-Serbia Railway.

      During the 14-day seminar, 40 students from Malaysia and Serbia will deeply explore and study China's latest achievements and innovative management practical experience in the fields of urban planning, public transportation and high-speed rail construction and management through classroom lectures, case analysis, on-site teaching, visits, exchanges and discussions, etc.

      Relevant responsible comrades from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, School of Architecture and Art, and School of Civil Engineering attended the opening ceremony.
