On the afternoon of April 30, 2024, the graduation ceremony of the short-term foreign aid training project "Urban Planning and Construction Seminar for French-speaking African Countries" sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and hosted by our school was held at our school of the Institute of International Education. Dean Han Bing, executive vice president and secretary general of China Urban Planning Society, and dean of School of Architecture and Art, together with Dean Han Bing, executive vice president and secretary general of China Urban Planning Society, presented gifts to the students. Vice president Liu Xiaofang, an international education student, presented gifts to the students. She Gaohong, vice president of School of Architecture and Art, attended and summarized the project. This seminar was attended by 18 students from five French-speaking African countries, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Gabon, Mauritius and Tunisia. After a 14-day course, exchange seminar and on-site teaching, it was successfully completed.

      Chairman Shi Nan introduced the nature, purpose, organizational form and international exchange history of China Urban Planning Society to the trainees, and hoped that officials from all over the world would actively participate in the activities of the Society, apply the experience of China's urban planning, construction and governance learned in China to their own work, and bring it back to the specific work of their countries, so as to achieve more results for promoting friendly exchanges and win-win cooperation with China. Vice President She Gaohong reviewed the learning content of the students who participated in this seminar, praised the sincere friendship and mutual learning spirit demonstrated by the students during their training in China, and reviewed and summarized the experience of China's promotion of modernization, joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and implementation of the "Three Major Initiatives" in urban and rural planning and construction involved in the seminar. He pointed out that development is the eternal theme, cooperation is the cornerstone of success, and win-win is the common aspiration of developing countries. The famous saying among Latin American countries, "Only by benefiting the world can we benefit our own country", is completely consistent with China's idea of building Community of Shared Future for Mankind. He hoped that the students would apply what they have learned from their study in China to their own work, so as to share China's experience in making cities smart, green and sustainable, and achieve more results for promoting friendly exchanges and win-win cooperation with China. He also raised ardent hopes for the officials, hoping that the officials can act as envoys of China-Africa exchanges, contribute to promoting pragmatic cooperation and deepening the friendship between the Chinese and African peoples, and contribute to the implementation of the Vision 2035 for China-Africa Cooperation.

      At the graduation ceremony, Alun Musangu Mulumba, a representative of the seminar participants and ministerial adviser from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, spoke on behalf of the participants. He said that although the disparity between urban and rural modernization development in China and Africa is very common, he learned that Chinese experts share and discuss public health problems, housing problems, health problems, employment problems, garbage management problems, sewage treatment and other issues caused by urbanization, which are similar to those of African countries. In other training courses, the valuable experience and solutions learned from China in the field of urban planning and construction are introduced, which is of great reference significance to African countries. Representatives of the trainees expressed deep admiration for the achievements of Chinese-style modernization in various fields and places. Finally, he also spoke highly of the profound friendship and cooperation achievements between China and French-speaking African countries, and called on French-speaking African countries to further strengthen unity and cooperation with China to jointly meet various challenges in today's world. This seminar serves as a platform to build a bridge of friendship and cooperation and better promote common development.

      This seminar is the first seminar project of the Ministry of Commerce hosted by our institute in 2024. It is to implement the "the belt and road initiative" initiative, build a "Community of Shared Future for Mankind", and cultivate more urban and rural planning and construction who know, love and friendly China.
