On the morning of June 13, 2025, our school held the opening ceremony of the short-term foreign aid training program "Seminar on Sustainable Development of Cities in Developing Countries". Wang Wenwen, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, attended and delivered a speech.

Wang Wenwen welcomed the officials who attended the seminar. She introduced the basic situation of the school and the details of this seminar. She pointed out that this seminar is not only a pragmatic action to implement the consensus of global governance, but also an important carrier to promote international cooperation in urban development. She emphasized that Beijing Jiaotong University, relying on its interdisciplinary advantages, promotes the deep integration of design, cutting-edge technology and transportation culture, and has formed a series of innovative achievements in the fields of "smart city" and "green building". She hopes that the trainees will closely combine their training gains with their own development needs, and jointly contribute wisdom to the sustainable and inclusive development of global cities.

Mr. Wang Yuhang, a legislator of Penang State, Malaysia, spoke as the representative of the trainees. He said that this seminar is of great significance. It is not only a grand gathering for the exchange of knowledge and experience, but also an important practice to promote pragmatic cooperation in the sustainable development of global cities. He suggested that while learning from China's advanced experience in sustainable urban development, countries should focus on building a transnational friendship and cooperation network, promote the deep integration of economic growth with the development model of resource conservation, environment friendliness and social inclusion, and let the concept of sustainable development take root in global urban governance.
Thirty trainees from Armenia, South Africa, Malaysia, Burkina Faso, Gambia and other countries will systematically learn professional knowledge in the fields of urban sustainable development such as China's land spatial planning and green urban spatial planning management system during the two-week training. Students will also go to Chongqing, a mountain city, to inspect sustainable development practice projects such as Shapingba Rail Hub, small mountain towns in Chongqing, ecological corridor construction, etc., and conduct exchanges and discussions with Chongqing Transportation Construction Management Company, Chongqing Transportation Hub Group and other enterprises to deeply experience China's practical achievements in the field of urban planning and sustainable development.

Relevant responsible comrades from the School of International Education, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and the School of Architecture and Art attended the opening ceremony.
